Ode to my fatness

You are: a by-product.
The problem hid itself in its contempt of you.
You are: taking antidepressants,
the fog lifting.
You are: a wake up call,
a nudge in the right direction,
a gentle reminder.
I wanted you gone and I was the collateral.
Now in old photos I miss you and see what took your place.
You are: a promise to myself, kept.
You are: time spent on better things.
I wanted to be looked at less, you helped.
I wanted to look away, you didn’t let me.
For everything:
I’m sorry.
For everything:
Thank you.
